First, comes the eligibility criteria -
Any student who has cleared CA foundation or has completed his/her graduation with 55% marks is eligible to appear for CA intermediate.
Finding yourself satisfying the above criteria, you can now dive into this paragraph to know about the subjects of CA Inter.
Intermediate examination divides itself into two groups namely Group 1 and Group 2
While Group 1 is more on the practical side with subjects like -
- ADVANCED ACCOUNTING
- CORPORATE AND OTHER LAWS
- TAXATION
Group 2 is more on the theoretical side with subjects like -
- COST AND MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING
- AUDITING AND ETHICS
- FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
But these are just the subject names, at least let us know the briefs about them to know what the subject has to offer -

Hearing the long list got me a mini heart attack, but what are the requirements to clear this exam?
You need to gather minimum 40% in each subject and 50% in aggregate to get that pass remark. Basically 40 marks in each subject and 150 marks in each group to get that ca finalist title
Do, all the papers fall under the descriptive category?
CA intermediate allows no discrimination and has 30% multiple choice questions in each paper i.e. paper pattern for each subject is 70 marks descriptive and 30 marks objective.
Is it necessary to appear for both groups?
No, there is no compulsion to appear in both the groups, you can take your time and decide whether you wish to appear for one or both groups.
However, it is always advisable to appear for both groups together as then the passing criteria of 50% in each group changes to 50% as a whole and even if you fail to score 50% in one group, you can square it off with the score in other group.
But when to appear for this exam?
Options of 3 exam terms are available.

- May / June
